Stephen Crane (1871-1900).American Realist novelist,short story writer and poet,best known for his acclaimed civil war novel,The Red Badge of Courage.Despite Crane being born after the war,& having no military experience,the novel was one of the first known for it's powerful realism.His other works included Maggie:A Girl of the Streets,& the short story,Monster.He died at the arly age of 28,from tuberculosis
