Edmund Beckett Denison,1st Baron Grimthorpe (1816-1905).English barrister,mechanic and amateur architect,& more notably as a horologist (clock/watchmaker).He designed the clockworks and setting the chimes for the world famous Big Ben,at the House of Parliament,Westminster.He is also said to have been responsible (though unverifried?) for breaking the second bell cast,yet first to to be placed in Big Ben,by banging it too hard.He repaired it 3 years later,and has sounded its familiar tune since
