John Henry Pepper (1821-1900).English chemist and inventor. He is perhaps best known for inventing the illusionist prop trick known as 'Pepper's Ghost',a reflection of a performer or object cast onto a stage to create the illusion of a ghost.He was also a proponent of the study of geological continental drift,tried unsuccessfully to make it rain in Australia,thru electric staticity. He was a chemist by profession,& a frequent science lecturer on tours.
