Scott O'Dell (1898-1989).American novelist,author of children's historical fiction,which often featured young -pre-teens & teens rights of passage with a conservation & historical era tribal culture theme.His notable works,included Island of the Blue Dolphin,The Black pearl,and The King's Fifth.The latter was the basis for the cult 80's childrens cartoon series Mysterious Cities of Gold.
