The use of London Underground Tube stations as Air Raid shelters during WW2,was largely thanks to Piritin & his Communist party members forcing their way en masse into the now defunct Strand Underground station during the early part of the Blitz in 1940.He also fought against Oswald Moseleys fascists at "The Battle of Cable Street"
