John McDouall Stuart (1815-1866).Scottish explorer,best known for leading the first expedition to successfully cross the arid interior of Australia,from south (Adelaide,South Australia) to north (Darwin,Northern Territory),on his last of six expeditions,between 1858 & 1862,having never lost a man due to his reknown care and respect.As such,he is considered one of Australia's greatest explorers.
