Sir Robert peel (1788-1850).British Politician,twice Prime Minister (1834-35,again in 1841-46).He is credited with the formation of the modern british police force whilst serving as Home Secretary.His first premiership saw the formation of the modern Conservative party out of the splintered old Tory party.His second Premiership saw the repeal of the Corn Laws.He was the son of wealthy industrialist and politician,also called Sir Robert Peel.
